Tolkien Blog Party!

I know I'm kind of late to the party, but I wanted to answer these questions anyway. I have been a Tolkien fan for a while, but only recently after rewatching the movies have I become truly in love with the story again. I personally think that this blog party is a great idea and my only regret is that I missed the past years of it.

Look at that awesome Hobbit door.
And just because I can't truly pick between all these purty buttons, I'll add some more. :)

Alright, let's dive right in.

1.  What draws you to Tolkien's stories?  (The characters, the quests, the themes, the worlds, etc.)
SO much. As a writer I am pulled in by the world building and astounding character development, etc. but as a reader and general lover of stories, I am pulled in by the fact that it just feels like a home that I've been away from. Even when I saw it for the first time, it felt like something that I already knew so well, but I was just getting reaquanted.

2.  What was the first Middle Earth book you read and/or movie you saw?  What did you think of it?
The first one I read was the Hobbit and as soon as I read it, I was in love. Bilbo was so much like me, and I just loved the world that I felt I had created in my mind (even though J.R.R. Tolkien did). To this day it is just so precious to me.

3.  Name three of your favorite characters and tell us why you like them.
Golly gee, give me a sec... Okay, Samwise, Aragorn, and Gimli.
I love Aragorn because he's so darn noble and just an awesome character.
Samwise because he's funny without meaning to be, and he has such an admirable loyalty to Frodo.
Gimli because...Gimli! Need I say more?

4.  Are there any secondary characters you think deserve more attention?
*unscrolls list* Ahem. Borimir, Faramir, Eowyn, Pippen, and Arwen. And that's just off the top of my head.

5.  What Middle Earth character do you relate to the most?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Bilbo is ma bro.

6.  If you could ask Professor Tolkien one Middle Earth-related question, what would you like to ask him?
Can I touch your hand? Just kidding, I would probably ask how he made the world so believable and enchanting.

7.  Are there any pieces of Middle Earth merchandise you would particularly like to own, but don't?
All of them. Mainly mugs. I am huge tea drinker, and so I would love to have a personalized mug for me to drink from.

8.  What battle would you absolutely not want to be part of?
Uhm...the battle of Helms Deep. I cringe at how all the elves were killed and it went so terribly wrong.

9.  Would you rather eat a meal at the Rivendell or Bag End?
BAG END!! As cool and pretty as Rivendell is, it is my dream to be a Hobbit, so I couldn't pass up Bag End.

10.  List up to ten of your favorite lines/quotes from the books or movies.
"Don't go where I can't follow."
"The journey doesn't end here."
"The sea calls us home."
"All we have to do is to decide what to do with the time given to us."
"There is some good in this world and it's worth fighting for."
"Those are the stories that stay with us."

And there you have it!
