Aleks and Blacklist

Well, today I started Aleks. It's a math website and I started Pre-Algebra on it.
It will definitely help me fill whatever gaps I have in where I should be right now...math-wise.

I'm helping my sister with cabbage salad, and may I just say, it is delicious!! Mmm.

We're starting to do read-a-loud again. The book we are reading now is a Gladys Aylward missionary book. I've read the Trailblazer one called Flight of the Fugitives. The one we're reading is called...uh, give me a second to remember. Gladys Aylward.

I'm doing a lot of Aleks right now. It's not too bad, but it is math. And I have never been particularly good at math. I'm a bit more right brained than left brained. But I'm mostly smack-dab in the middle.

Now that I'm finished with Aleks, and now that Daddy got home, we're watching The Blacklist. I love this show so much. Yes, it is a bit gruesome, but I think it's worth the gore for the plot, sub-plot, and just overall awesomeness.

Well, I'm not good at multi-tasking. So I'm going to focus The Blacklist.

Sort of Late-ish Happy First Day of Fall

I am a couple days past the official start of fall ( I kind of forgot), so I'm going to pretend that today is the start of fall. It's fall! Happy First Day of Fall!!
As you can see I changed the summery blue sky, to a nice, fall leaf...screen thing. :) Yay for fall! I love the bright colors of the leaves and the tea and...mmm, I love fall. Plus, the air is so crisp and clear, that wonderful chill in the air.

Okay, random fact, 77% of the worlds garlic is grown in china! I learned that random fact from my mother.

Last night we went to a family gathering to celebrate Benjamin's new Eagle Rank.
It was a lot of fun to be able to see the family that came down from Oregon for Ben's Ceremony. We had burgers and a pasta salad around a bonfire.
So that was nice.

I am going to be in a wedding. I'm going to be a bridesmaid!
I have mixed feelings about that.

October is almost here, so I can start entering my novel info pretty soon. I'm excited. It's definitely going to be a challenge to write 1,666 words a day. At least, it seems like it will be a lot. It could go by quickly.

Yay!! OUAT is going to be on tonight (Once Upon A Time)! The season finale kinda left you hanging with a fleeting vision of...(dun dun dun)...ELSA!!!  I can't wait to see how she fits into the family. :) I mean, everyone's related somehow!

Anywho, that's the scoop.

Eagles and Agents

Today is my brother's Eagle Scout Ceremony. Yay Ben!
The dedication and determination that it took is astounding. I am so proud of him for accomplishing this huge...accomplishment. You know, only 5% of all Boy Scouts make it Eagle.
So this is a big deal. I am excited to get together with family and friends to celebrate. And cake. I'm excited for the cake too.

So the writer's block s gone.
Well, I had to sit myself down and say, "Alright Brain, listen up. I'm real tired of this "Writers Block" ok? So you are going to write something worth reading right now."
And my brain listened. I started writing slowly at first, and soon sped up until I was writing like crazy, not stopping for a second. And the next thing I know, I'm finishing a chapter.
That was really satisfying.

Agents of Shield (my thoughts), Warning: Spoilers from Season 2, Episode 1.
I am so concerned for Fitz. Like, I almost had a panic attack when I saw him talking to Jemma...when she wasn't even there. Uhg...sadness.
I'm also really wanting that one dude's superpower. He can absorb any substance, and become that substance. That's pretty cool. Fitz...it's so sad.

Well, I have to go get ready for the ceremony. I have to wear a dress. Yay.
Luckily it is above my knee.
1. I'm wearing leggings so I can jump and run and do anything without embarrassment.
2. It isn't too restricting.
As dresses go, it's as good as I'm going to get.

It's Official!

Well, hey everyone.
It's a new day, and the sun is shining...well, sort of shining.
It's official, I have joined NaNoWriMo, and I am excited to start in November.

The rain last night kept me up for some weird reason. It was really loud, and I wanted to go outside and just lay in it. I love the rain, fog, and cloudy grey. It's perfect that I live in WA because that's our weather 70% of the time.

Unfortunately, I have a bad case of stare-at-the-screen-in-frustration-pull-out-your-hair-want-to-give-up-disease. Also known as Writer's Block.

Um...that's all. My day has kind of been...normal.
OH! My brother went to college for the entire day today. His classes go from 11:00 to 4:00ish.
It's weird having him gone.

Monday, September 22, 2014

So, two things...well, actually three things and a bunch of other random stuff.

1. NaNoWriMo
2. ...uh, what was that one again? Whatever, I'll just go to the next one.
3. uh, nope, can't remember that one either. Darn.

I decided to do NaNoWriMo this year.
Um, if anyone..(*wink wink to a CERTAIN someone who told me about NaNoWriMo)*) has any tips or helpful hints that they would like to share, that would be awesome!
I think it will be good for me to do this. So for the month of November I will be taking a break from my main novel and starting on my NaNoWriMo one.
Anywho, uhhh.

That was all I really had to talk about.
Oh, and I have to start a HomeEc class (my mother being the teacher) because I can't cook, and I need to learn that stuff.

Oh, my birthday is coming up, that's exciting/horrid. I like birthdays, birthdays are fun, but at the same time I don't want to get any older. I'm perfectly happy with staying 12 forever.

Ooo, Bethany is slicing up some watermelon. Yummy.

OH! I just remembered what the second thing was. My brother and I are going running in the mornings now. Yup, that's a big commitment, but I should be able to it...hopefully.

Saturday, September 20, 2014

This morning my brother and I were talking when we heard a shriek from my mother.
Upon further investigation, we found that it was in fact a large...(*shiver*)...spider.
It was actually the largest spider I had ever seen in our house. It was about as big as my palm (legs included).
Uhg, it was horrid.
My brother (being the heroic, fearless guy that he is) quickly disposed of the offending arachnid.
My sister, mother and I were all EXTREMELY grateful.

On a really happy note, we went to the library!! SO I got a whole new shipment of books. Yay!!
I have been without a new book for a week or two now. Granted, I probably got more writing done that way. But at least I have new books! :)

So today my sister was wandering around, searching for her phone. After two hours of scouring every nook and cranny of our house, she decided to call her phone from our home phone.
We all listened for the ringing sound, and we heard it, yes. But we couldn't find where it was.
Finally my mother asked the million dollar question, "Is it in your back pocket?"
It was.
She had had it in her back pocket the entire time.

Last night we had a bonfire, it was really nice.
When it got really dark we could see only a couple stars through the clouds, but that's okay. I grabbed my Ipod and listened to some music while I was curled up in a camp chair. The glowing embers lazily puffing smoke in the air. Glorious.

Hmm...what to do, what to do.
Should I go read a fantastic book? Should I go write? Or should I catch up on OUAT before it starts again?
Decisions, decisions.
I think I'll go....read. Yes. That sounds good.

Lesson 4

I have no idea what I'm doing (then again, that's true for most of the time), but this time especially.
I am in the middle of writing my novel, and I need a prophecy. It's hard to come up with prophecys, at least for me.
So far I'm doing...okay, but I am kinda stuck.

Well, I just finished Lesson 4 of Scottish Gaelic! To some of you out there, I might be going super slow, but I just want the lessons to be cement in my mind and an automatic response. If that makes any sense.
                                                       ********The next day**********
So I finished the prophecy, I'm pretty happy with it. ;)

So I downloaded a ton of songs and other stuff onto my Ipod, and then I found out that all the downloading shtuff had failed. I get to re-do it all! Yay.

Um, I'm going to go play a game with ma sis,

Yesterday I was riding my bike to a weeding job with my brother. We were headed up a hill, and I sped up. Well, Ben slowed down, and I clipped his back tire. I went sprawling in the gravel. Not fun.
Tentatively standing up, I felt my right foot burning badly, at least that's what it felt like. I looked down and saw the skin scraped off. No big deal, just a little skinned toes, right? Everyone get's those.
Wrong. I had scraped off two layers of skin, and it was bleeding badly, stinging like a million bees were attacking those four toes. Ben saw that and called mom to come and get me, but I wouldn't hear of it. I asked him to grab my bike, and I started to hobble home. The blood had coated my sandle and was making it a bit harder to walk. As soon as I got home, I got it all cleaned up, then I sat back and watched The Fox and the Hound.

Anyway, that evening Ben surprised me and took me to a movie. Guardians of the Galaxy.
It was a good movie.
That night I got only two hours of sleep because the open wounds were rubbing against the sheets, and it hurt really bad (stay with me, I do have a point to all this).

Next morning, I'm sleep deprived and groggy, but hey, you gotta push through it.
That evening I went to ANOTHER movie (insane, right?), The Fault In Our Stars.
Romantic mushy-gushy as it was, I rather enjoyed it. It is a good love story as love story's go. I cried, to state it plainly, I was crying like a blubbering idiot.
Anyway, I got back home and was exhausted. I immediately went to bed but was once again tossing and turning. I just couldn't sleep. Finally, I looked at my watch, and it was midnight. Uhg.
I went downstairs to try to find some rest, and I fell asleep almost instantaneously.
The next thing I know, I wake up, and I'm in my bed. WHAAAA?????? I fell asleep on the couch, and now I'm on the top bunk of the bunk-bed. Well that's strange because I don't remember getting up.  Upon further investigation, I found a blanket in the hallway. Apparently I was sleepwalking. I have never done that before in my life.
Not only did I sleepwalk, but I walked up a flight of stairs and a bunk-bed ladder.
I gots SKILLLZZ!!!
I thought it was pretty cool that I slept-walked.

On a completely un-related, random note, someone is stealing our mail. Yup...

Anywho, Toodlepip

13 Facts About Me

Okay, so a friend wrote some random facts about herself on her blog today or yesterday, and I decided to find some good questions to ask myself and write about.
Here they are.

1. What is a book you love?
One book that I love is called Auralia's Colors. It has a pretty good plot, it's interesting enough, but what I love so much about it is the description. It has such rich description, such...scenic description. You can see everything in your mind's eye. You get so lost in the picture that everything fades away.
I could read it over and over and over, and it would never get old. I actually bought it not too long ago. It's so good. Do yourself a favor, go read it.

2. What are your views on mainstream music?
Umm, I don't know. I like some songs, and dislike others. It's mainly preference, but there are a few of those popular songs that are just so...vulgar and unnecessary.

3.How important do you think education is?
I think it's very important, but there is a line between education and school. School is a..stricter education with parameters and a specific end goal.
General education is gained through life and experiences. So...yeah, I think education is important; it's needed in life. It's what helps you along in the small day to day tasks.

4. Put your music on shuffle and list the first ten songs.
"Southern Voice" by Tim Mcgraw
"Solders "by Otherwise
"Life is a Highway" by Rascal Flatts
"Touch the Sky" from Brave
"Once Upon a December" from Anistasia
"Oceans" by Hillsong United
"The Windsong" sung by Charlize Theron from Mighty Joe Young
"Soldatino" by Paola Bennet
"Noble Maiden Fair" from Brave
"Deliver Us" from The Prince of Egypt

5. What is something you are proud of?
I guess it's my novel. I'm proud of myself because I never thought I'd get this far with it, and I did.

6. What do you hope your future will be like in ten years?
In ten years I will be 22, and I hope to have a couple books published. I also hope to be living with my sister in an apartment that we share. She has become my best friend afterall.

7. What is something you miss?
I miss my dog Riley. He was a Boxer, and the sweetest Boxer ever, too. He died when I was...5, but I remember him so well.

8. What is something that makes you laugh?
Um, it's kind of an inside joke, but the words "No-Morgan purple paint." will always make me start laughing.
It was a joke from Arkansas.

9. What is a quote you try to live by?
I actually have several.
"If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try." This one's kind of self-explanatory.
"You were born an original, don't die a copy." This one reminds me to be proud of my quirks and weirdness. I am an original. I shouldn't be envious of others.
"And above all, look at the world through glittering eyes." You will be amazed at how many things are wondrous and exciting. Even through everything bad, there is still wonder.

10. Where is somewhere you would like to travel?
I would LOVE to travel to London, Morroco, or Scotland.

11. What is something you're excited about?
I am VERY excited about October 7th. That's when The Blood of Olympus comes out. YAY!!!

12. What is something that comforts you?
The sound of a ticking clock, tea, my stuffed animal dalmatian, Shiloh.
And songs in a different language. Weird, I know.

13. If everyone was forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?
This one truly stumps me. I have no idea. I'll have to think about this one.

Well, that's all.
Until next time.

Progress report on my novel.
I do these alot now, but I'm just moving so fast that it's constantly changing.
I have 40 chapters. This is exciting. I am almost done with the book. Squee!

This is going to be really random, but I'm just going to go for it.
One thing that I always try to do is evaluate my fears. I mean, everyone has them right? So why can't I think of mine. Then I realized, crane-flies, walking alone at night...etc., but then I also realized that those aren't fears. Those are just dislikes or things that make me uncomfortable.
So what are my fears? What am I afraid of.
I only could think of four or five things.
Spiders, the darkness, like that thick, impenetrable blackness that just won't go away.
Needles, and heights.

That was all I could think of. Now I'm starting to feel awesome because I only have four fears! But what if there's more? What if there are things that are only brought out of me when I am put in that situation?
Ask yourself, what are your fears?

I don't know, this is just a really random musing.
Do with it what you will.

On another random tangent, the piano song I'm learning is going well.
I am almost done with it actually, so that is exciting.

Vivaldi's Winter

Don't you hate it when you have writers block? Well, that's what I have right now. Bluh. Not fun,
but I just need to push through it. I am pretty close with being done with the first draft of my book, but then I have to go through it all and edit it for the first time. I'm excited for that.
I'm also super excited to start the second book. It is going to be so epic!! :)

I lost my iPod a while ago, and I couldn't listen to music when I wrote. It impacted me so much. I never realized how much easier emotion is to convey when you can listen to music. So I might go listen to music to help myself out of the Writer's Block. I capitalized those words because that is the name of a disease. And no, it isn't contagious. It's all in your head.

There's this one song that has so much...power to it. It is actually my favorite version of "Let it Go" from Frozen.
It's by the PianoGuys, called "Vivaldi's Winter."
Ahhh!!! So much inspiration and awesomeness from that song. Do yourself a favor, go look it up! It's great.

Soooo...how are you?

My life is very busy, but good. Busy is good. Sometimes.

Well then, I better go do something productive.

Noah Comments

Oh wow.
I'm watching Noah right now, and may I just say, bluh.
I will be posting my thoughts and comments as I watch this movie. Enjoy.

As a movie on it's own, it's good, but as an account of the Bible, it's absolute rubbish.
They made the fallen angels into rock trolls, and they made the rock trolls into good guys who God cast out because they tried to help humans rise from their sins.
This is turning the actual Bible account into a fairy-tale of sorts. Infuriating.

And it isn't getting any better.

Woah!!! Logan Lerman is in this? I had no idea. He also plays in the Percy Jackson films and a couple others, but I mostly know him from PJO ( it was also a really bad adaptation).

And now they are involving evolution. Uhg, it drives me crazy (not that I had far to go), but still.
This is a weird movie...
Well, at least the unimportant parts were true to the Bible. You know, the small details that don't change the entire story.
So at least we can be happy with that.

Emma Watson is such a good actress, I mean, how many people can cry that convincingly. A few, but not many.

Hmm, they got the fermented grape part right.

As a movie on it's own, I give it a...three out of five stars, but as the Bible story, I give it a minus three out of five stars.

And that is the end of my random musings while watching Noah.

Today we went on a hike, and I am officially a wimp.
I went on this hike (Heather Lake) when I was 7 or 8, and it was no problem for me, but today I felt like I was an old lady hobbling up a set of stairs. Man, I am weak.
I did have a blast though with the rest of my family, just talking and laughing together.

The actual lake was amazing. The sun was shining just right so it looked like the water was a light turquoise, and the water was crystal clear. Ben jumped in, but because it was melted snow water (freezing cold) he didn't stay in long. I had so much fun.

I fell when I was climbing a rock, I scraped up my knee pretty badly, and cut my left knee pretty deep. Not fun.
I felt pretty stupid for falling, but hey, it happens to everyone. :)

Anyway, I have run out of books to read and I am kind of needing to write more, but I really want to read. The struggle is definitely...struggled...? What? That made no sense.

I am learning (or at least trying to learn) this.
 Wish me luck.

X-Men and Patience

I have been making a lot of progress on my novel, I find myself trying to edit it so much. I have to tell myself to be patient. But I am excited to finish the writing part so I can read the entire thing. That's going to be so great.

I saw X-men: Days of Future Past. I won't give a review, but I will say I like it. It was a bit awkward with my mum watching it with me (we went to see it in theaters), because there were...just some parts that weren't completely family friendly. Anyway, I thought overall it was a good movie.

Yay! I got the books I read recently up.  A friend asked to see the newest additions, but I hadn't gotten around to it, but today...I had a chance! So that's good.

My brother and I are going to learn Krav Maga together. It's a fighting style. I'm excited.

Ummm...not much else has happened. Oh, I'm also going to learn how to properly swordfight, and fence.

The Amazing Spider Man 2!!!

Sorry it's been a couple days since I last posted, just been so busy lately, focusing mainly on my writing, I now have 39 chapters.
Today two friends came over for breakfast, my god-sister and her mother. I've known my god-sister Sue for all my life. She's a non-stop bundle of energy, anyway, that's off the point. So we spent the day with them and talked, laughed, and just enjoyed each other's company. I had fun. :)

I also had my dentist appointment today. It went...okay, as well as those kind of things can go I suppose. I didn't have a nervous breakdown, so that's good. :P
The needle was...terrifying to say the least. It's a big needle, and it had to be in my gums for a couple minutes to really numb everything, but I somehow got through it. Thank goodness.

Okay, I'm watching The Amazing Spider-man TWO!!!! Finally!
I'm going to gush about it, so for those of you who haven't seen it, please don't read the rest of this, and for those of you who can't resist spoilers...I'm sorry (it's funny, as soon as I said that I thought of Doctor Who).
So...let the gushing commence.
I just want to say,Dane Dehaan was the best casting choice the directors could have made. He was brilliant at playing the insane, but slightly endearing, son of Norman Osborn. So yay for that.
Now for...(I'm so sorry those of you who haven't seen the movie) Gwen's death.
I was a bit desensitized because I had heard of it and had already accepted it, but even as I was desensitized, I got a tiny bit emotional because of the raw emotion that Andrew Garfield acted out. It was very well done. I think my sister is still in denial.

I can't wait for The Sinister Six to come out, I am so psyched about the whole Doc Oc thing, because I KNOW I saw his tentacle thingies in the Oscorp Secret Level. Gah, I can't wait.

I think it was interesting how The Amazing Spider Man actually dealt with real things, like loss of loved ones, losing your parents, and the feeling of abandonment that follows. Accepting life, and mourning. Actual lessons and substance. I kinda thought that was cool.
