The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

Something amazing has happened. Let me catch you up.
A while ago, I finally watched the 2005 Pride and Prejudice. I enjoyed it, but that was that. I wasn't an Austen person, so I wasn't terribly interested in the book or anything else like that.

Fast forward, and I come down with a stuffy-nose-headache-brain-dead cold. On the second day of my sickness, I was poking around Youtube to find some form of entertainment for about a half an hour. I watched a small handful of talk-show clips, a couple watercolor tutorials, and a dash of Studio C, because Studio C makes everything better. *proudly displays Studio C t-shirt*

His "disguise".
After rewatching a couple Studio Cs, I decided to find something else. Out of curiosity, I searched for something I had heard a lot about, but was very skeptical. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on Youtube. Essentially, it's a vlog-style adaptation of the story. After watching the first video, I came to a conclusion.

It's so good!! I watched all the videos in two days, and I wish that they could just go on forever.

Lizzie is sarcastic, hilarious, and oh so dramatic. She is the perfect modern day Elizabeth.

This Youtube version is a closer look at the relationship of the sisters. Remember annoying, foolish, silly Lydia? Well, in this video series, she is a gem. I mean, she's still foolish and immature and definitely Lydia Bennet, but she has more depth, and I ended up really liking her character.

Jane is sweet, kind, and very motherly to the two girls. She and Bing Lee are the perfect couple, and I love how her character's growth is showcased through this style of storytelling.

Darcy was one of my favorite Darcys ever. Him pretending to be Fitz was the funniest thing ever. And speaking of Fitz...

Bro, you're the best.

I just love the Lizzie Bennet Diaries to pieces. *dissolves into a puddle of fangirling*

Disclaimer: There is one episode where Lydia references some very...distasteful things. And then there are light inappropriate comments here and there.

In conclusion, go watch these because when you have finished them, your life will become ruined. You will start finding things such as snickerdoodles really sad. It will also make your life like 3% funnier, and you will find things like fake texting a whole lot more humorous.
Lizzie's imitations of Darcy are the best.

What do you think? Have you seen the Lizzie Bennet Diaries? Or any other Youtube series you're dying over?

  1. Well I haven't actually watched LBD, but I really need to. However I have seen another by the same people who did LBD, called Emma Approved. It is a re-telling of Jane Austen's Emma. WATCH IT!!! It is FANTASTIC and it even won an EMMY!!! Also I really like Green Gables Fables which is an Anne of Green Gables re-telling. They are on season two right now.

We need to get Pemberley Digital (the ones who did LBD and EA) to do another Austen or something similar!! We need to start a petition and find someone who has Twitter that can tweet them the petition for us.
